Emergency Management Listed below is a brief summary of emergency response information that may be helpful. Emergency Operations Center (EOC) – The EOC is located at the Guilford Fire Headquarters, located at 390 Church Street (Rt. 77).Department Heads and staff members from all key functions (Selectmen, Fire, Police, Public Works / Engineering, Health, Parks & Recreation, Environmental Planning, Economic Development, and School Administration) all meet here to discuss critical issues, prioritize clean-up efforts and maintain contact with the State Storm Center, and C L & P personnel. Emergency Shelter (Community Center) - The Community Center will transition into an Emergency Shelter. As such, residents can find safe shelter and meal(s) as needed. Overnight accommodations on cots, mats, baby cribs, including areas for crated pets, will be available. Hot showers and power charging stations will be available as well. Evacuations Announcements- These are issued by the Town using the Reverse 911 and CTAlert process. Evacuations are ordered for your safety. In certain circumstances there are several areas where emergency personnel cannot gain access with their vehicles should the need arise. Power Restoration- The Town has developed a “priority” listing for power restoration that first focuses on public safety and town operations. Our priority list includes: Yale New Haven Hospital, Town facilities such as: Fire, Police, Emergency Shelter, Public Works and Town Hall, Elderly Housing/Convalescent Homes and the School facilities. Rt. 1 and the Town Center follow to get gas stations and food service locations operating. Water Supply- Safe drinking water will be available for pick up at the Police Station, Emergency Shelter, North Guilford Fire Dept. and Town Library. Town Hall- As soon as possible, town hall will be open to residents for power recharging of cell phones and computers, and WiFi services. Town Library- The Library can be opened on a limited basis, providing a place for socialization and reading the newspaper. Once power is restored, the Library seves as a recharging area with WiFi services available. Communication Methods- Information is available through the Town website and Facebook pages, with short bursts on Twitter, the Guilford Chamber of Commerce, Guilford PATCH, Guilford Atticus, and CT Out and About. All residents to sign up on the Reverse 911 and CTAlert systems as another method of communication. You may register your home phone and your cell phone numbers to obtain critical announcements.
